I have been making soap for 8 years, and love it, though I had reduced it to a hobby status when I started building websites. Then, too, so many of my former customers still wanted to buy soap, so... The Harvest Crafted idea has been bumping around in my head for quite some time, though it had no name, and the specifics were not all thought out. Then in January 2008 my husband and I were in a meeting hosted by Priority One Missions, when a book was handed out to each couple in attendance. This book was "The Kingdom Assignment", and was given to all of us by a couple who could not even attend the meeting. Inside the book was a crisp $100.00 bill. Now, this money was NOT given to us for our own use (the folks who gave it don't even know us!). It was understood that this was God's money. We were to be stewards of it, and were given three months to "grow" it...with the results going to Priority One Missions. So, my husband read the book on the airplane as we flew home. The next day, it was my turn to read. The more I read, the more excited I became. THIS was the time to launch the idea! Now I knew what I was to do! No wonder I could never quit making soap, why I loved it so much. God had given me a talent to be used for HIM, not just for Deb Miller. I shared the idea with my husband, explaining to him how I believed the Lord wanted me to do this, and he gave me his blessing. So here I am. For the first 3 months, Priority One was highlighted as the recipient of all Harvest Crafted donations. Now there are other ministries to choose from, as well.
